Knitters needed to boost fundraising for WiSE

Wetherby in Support of the Elderly (WiSE) wants to recruit an army of year-round knitters to boost its fundraising efforts.

WiSE regularly recruits volunteer knitters and crocheters to make sellable items for seasonal campaigns, but now wants needle minded craftspeople to help them all year round.

The award winning charity will even throw in patterns, needles and wool in a bid to get more volunteer knitters involved.

Catherine, fundraising and volunteer coordinator at WiSE, said: “Our message is clear- knitting is for life, not just for Christmas!

“We’ve had some real success in recent years selling knitted Chocolate Orange covers which have been donated by talented volunteers, but now we want to expand the range of products we sell throughout the year. Every penny raised from selling items like these goes towards helping isolated, older people right here in Wetherby.”

Ideas for knitted goods would also be appreciated and can be discussed with Catherine via email, on volunteering@w-ise.org.uk.

All finished knitting should be posted to Wetherby in Support of The Elderly, The One Stop Centre, Westgate, Wetherby, LS22 6NL.

WISE is a registered charity organisation part funded by Leeds City Council (LCC).
